These workshops will be facilitated by
Brother Loughlan Sofield

To help us move forward into Renew My Church, this workshop will present and strengthen our understanding of the “Four C’s of Collaboration: Clarification, Conviction, Commitment, and Capacity/Capability.” How do we commit to a new way of ministering that identifies and uses the gifts and skills of every baptized member of our parish and grouping? Obstacles will inevitably arise along the way, so how can we practically work through them and discover our true capacity and capability for practicing a new way of being the Church of Chicago? The 1-3 PM sessions will be geared toward pastors and their staffs. The evening sessions will be for any in parish leadership who want to learn why it is important to be collaborative – and best practices on how to do it.

Brother Loughlan Sofield literally wrote the book on collaboration, “Collaborative Ministry: Skills and Guidelines.” He is currently Director of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity’s Senior Ministry house. He has served as Director of the Missionary Servant Center for Collaborative Ministry; Director of the Washington Archdiocesan Consultation and Counseling Center; and Assistant Director of the Center for Religion and Psychiatry in Washington D.C. Loughlan has worked in almost 300 dioceses on six continents and was Senior Editor of Human Development magazine for over 30 yrs. He has authored numerous articles and books on ministry and collaboration. His most recent include Principled Ministry; Facing Forgiveness; Collaboration: Uniting Our Gifts in Ministry; and Building Community: Christian, Caring, Vital. During the last few years, much of his time has been spent conducting programs of clergy education and consultation for dioceses. He is a former member of the Advisory Board of the NCCB Committee on Laity, Family, Women and Youth.
